Inflated Bicycling Rates

This exaggeration is at least partly due to the well-known “social desirability” bias, where self-reporting survey respondents often give answers based on what they believe is the most socially desirable behavior rather than their actual behavior. Staff needs to ensure that travel diary data is controlled for “social desirability” bias.
