Transportation Speaker Series

Recommended Transportation Speaker Series

To provide the much-needed transportation education to Boulder citizens, staff, and elected officials, Boulder or the TAB should sponsor a transportation speaker series.

Options I would suggest for the format of such a series:

  1. Sponsoring/inviting a leading national transportation expert to speak at a public meeting in Boulder (hopefully a presentation that all TAB members would attend);
  2. Have a panel of such speakers make relatively short presentations at a single meeting;
  3. Have a speaker series where a speaker is invited to give a solo presentation of 30-90 minutes. The series would be regularly held weekly or monthly. We would have a total of, say, 5-10 speakers over the course of the series of solo presentations; or
  4. Save a lot of money and effort by just showing YouTube videos of important transportation speeches. I list a representative sample below. A downside to that, of course, is that the video presentation would not be tailored to Boulder, and speakers could not be asked questions by people in Boulder.

Speakers I would suggest (links show each of these speakers making a sample presentation):
